O2 lets you get up to unlimited data on 30-day, 12-month, and 24-month SIM Only plans. All of these unlimited data SIM Only plans also come with unlimited minutes and texts, as well as 5G, but the longer term plans typically cost less per month. So a 24-month unlimited data plan costs less per month than a 12-month one, which costs less per month than a 30-day one.
However, choosing a shorter-term plan means you’re not committed for as long. With a 30-day SIM Only plan yes, you’ll pay more per month, but you’ll also be free to change your plan at any time.
Beyond that, at the time of writing you can get free roaming included in Europe (if you choose a ‘Classic’ plan), 75 worldwide destinations (on a ‘Plus’ plan), or 123 worldwide destinations (on an ‘Ultimate’ plan).
If you pick a 12 or 24-month plan then you’ll also get a free subscription to your choice of Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, Amazon Music, Audible, McAfee, or Cafeyn for three months (on a ‘Classic’ plan), six months (on a ‘Plus’ plan), or the duration of the contract (on an ‘Ultimate’ plan).
As you’ve probably guessed though, you’ll have to pay more for a Plus plan than a Classic one, and more still for an Ultimate plan.
Plans also come with access to the O2 Priority app, which includes discounts, competitions, and freebies, along with early access to gig tickets.
O2’s unlimited data plans give you a lot for your money – not just endless data, but also unlimited minutes and texts, free roaming, access to O2 Priority, and potentially a variety of other perks and extras, as detailed above.
They also come in a range of different durations, so there are loads of options to choose from. Plus, you’re not limited to just unlimited data SIM Only deals, as O2 also offers unlimited data plans with a new phone.
You can also make use of Wi-Fi Calling, 4G Calling, tethering, spending caps, and family plans, and O2 also gives you the option of an eSIM.
O2 has a fair usage policy which states that you shouldn’t use 650GB of data or more, twice within a six-month period. You also shouldn’t regularly tether to 12 or more devices, and when roaming in Europe you’re limited to 25GB of data per month.
However, most networks have roaming limits, and those other restrictions shouldn’t be a problem for the vast majority of users.
Yes, O2 allows you to tether with unlimited data at no extra cost, so that means you can use your phone’s data allowance to get other devices such as tablets and laptops online.
Note however that you shouldn’t regularly tether to 12 or more devices simultaneously, and that there’s a fair usage limit of 650GB per month on unlimited data plans.
Unlike a lot of networks, O2 still allows free roaming in Europe as standard, with some plans letting you roam even further afield. However, there’s a limit of 25GB of data when roaming in Europe.
If you’re on a plan that lets you roam for free outside Europe, then in those destinations there’s no cap on data use (other than the general 650GB fair usage limit), but O2 notes that speeds will be capped at 2Mbps, so you won’t get high speed data.
No, O2 doesn’t currently offer unlimited data on Pay As You Go, but you can get a Pay As You Go bundle with up to 250GB of data, or just choose an unlimited data 30-day SIM Only plan for similar flexibility.
There are lots of other networks offering unlimited data plans, including Three, EE, Vodafone, 1pMobile, Asda Mobile, Giffgaff, iD Mobile, Lebara, Lyca Mobile, Sky Mobile, Smarty, Talkmobile, Tesco Mobile, and VOXI.
