Why choose SMARTY SIM-only?

SMARTY is a UK mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) which uses Three’s infrastructure and coverage (meaning it has access to the UK's fastest 5G according to tests of Three from Speedtest), but stands out through offering a range of super-affordable short-term plans.

SMARTY’s SIM Only plans all last just 30 days, so you you’re not tied into a long-term contract. They come in at a range of data allowances – up to unlimited – and are all competitively priced, starting at just £5 per month at the time of writing. SMARTY also doesn’t carry out credit checks.

Added extras

SMARTY Mobile is focused on offering the lowest and fairest prices, so there aren’t as many extras as on some networks. That said, the network does offer both Wi-Fi Calling and 4G Calling on select handsets.

The former allows you to seamlessly call and text over Wi-Fi, and the latter over 4G, meaning you can stay in touch in more places, and even in places where there’s no mobile signal, just as long as there’s a Wi-Fi network.

Data roaming

You can use your SMARTY plan and its allowances at no extra cost when travelling in the EU – that’s true even now that the UK is no longer a member.

There is a fair use policy in place, but this only limits you to 12GB of roaming data each month, which should be plenty for most people.

Tethering

SMARTY allows you to tether with no limits beyond your general data allowance, so you can share it with other devices to get them online.

How can I keep my number when switching?

First order and activate your SMARTY SIM card (without closing your old mobile account). Once done, the easiest way to keep your old number is just to text ‘PAC’ to 65075 from the number that you want to keep. You’ll then receive your PAC code in response.

Then head to your dashboard on the SMARTY website, tap ‘Account settings' followed by ‘Your phone number’, and follow the instructions, which will include entering your PAC code.

You can also call up your old network to request your PAC code rather than texting 65075, then just follow the rest of the steps above.

Alternatively, you can request your PAC code before placing an order for a SMARTY SIM deal, and then say yes to 'Bring your number to SMARTY' during the checkout process.

Which SIM card size will I get?

SMARTY (and most networks) will send a SIM card that contains all three possible sizes (standard, micro and nano), so you just pop out the one you need.
