A no contract SIM deal can be great for a number of reasons. First off, the lack of any sort of contract means there’s no credit check, which makes them ideal for anyone with bad credit who might be refused a typical phone contract.
And there not being a credit check can be handy even if you have good credit, if for example you’ve recently had a credit check run and don’t want too many in a short period.
Credit aside, a no contract SIM deal also means no commitments, so you’re free to change or cancel your plan whenever you want, giving you ultimate flexibility.
You can see the available no contract SIM deals above – that listing will be up to date, so the latest offers are always visible. But at the time of writing it includes the likes of Giffgaff, VOXI and Lebara, all of which often offer excellent value.
The selection of unlimited data no contract plans is likely to change over time, but you can see the available options above, and at the time of writing they include unlimited data SIMs from VOXI, Giffgaff and Lebara.
Over time we’d expect many networks to start offering no contract SIMs with 5G, but at the time of writing VOXI stands out by offering this.
For all the up to date 5G offerings, tick the ‘Only Show 5G Deals’ box above.
Whatever no contract deal you opt for you’ll be sent a SIM card that contains all three possible sizes. This is typically called a trio SIM, multi SIM, or combi SIM.
So once it arrives you can just select the appropriate size for your device by comparing it to your phone’s SIM card slot.
That said, you’ll probably want the smallest size, known as a nano SIM – that’s what the vast majority of modern smartphones use.
Every UK network has widespread 4G coverage - in fact, they all have at least 99% population coverage with 4G, so wherever you are you’re likely to have good coverage with every network.
That said, there’s no guarantee, and if you’re looking for 5G then that’s a lot more limited, so we’d always recommend checking a network’s coverage map to make sure it’s available where you need it.
That depends on what you want from the network, but coverage and price are usually the two biggest factors – so find a good deal and a network that has coverage where you live and work.
Beyond that, consider allowances, 5G availability, what countries you can roam in for free, and any other extras that come with a plan.
However, it’s worth noting that with a no contract deal you’re not tied in, so if you’re not happy with the network you choose it’s easy to change.
A no contract SIM deal is a SIM Only plan with no contract. So you get a - usually - 30-day allowance of minutes, texts, and data, but you’re not tied in for any specific amount of time, so you can cancel your plan whenever you want. This also means there’s no credit check.
If you want the flexibility of not having a contract, have bad credit, or just don’t want a credit check run, then a no contract SIM deal is an ideal choice. If none of that applies, you might want to check out the other SIM Only deals available.
Absolutely. If you’re staying with your current network then it’s likely to automatically be transferred. If not, simply text ‘PAC’ to 65075 from the number that you want to keep, to get your PAC code, then give that code to the network that you’re joining. For more in-depth instructions, head to our how to get a PAC code from your network guide.
