Asda Mobile offers identical coverage to Vodafone, so its 4G and 5G coverage are both extensive.
Asda Mobile also offers some extremely cheap SIM Only plans, making it a great choice for value hunters.
Plus, all of its plans last just 30 days, so they’re very flexible, giving you the freedom to change or cancel your plan at any time. And there are loads of plans to choose from – including some with unlimited data.
All of Asda Mobile’s SIM Only plans also include unlimited minutes and texts, most come with 5G, and they include various extras too, detailed below.
Asda Mobile’s plans include a number of extras, such as both 4G Calling and 5G Calling. That means you can make and receive calls over both 4G and 5G, rather than only being able to over 2G or 3G.
While this is a common network feature, it’s still not offered by all networks, and it essentially means coverage is better for making calls than it would otherwise be.
Plus, Asda Mobile offers Wi-Fi Calling, which is the same idea, but allows for calls and texts over Wi-Fi. So even if there’s no signal at all you can still stay in touch with people, just as long as you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Asda Mobile’s plans also include free roaming across most of Europe, so you can use your allowances when abroad.
Asda Mobile’s plans all include data roaming at no additional cost at the time of writing, meaning you can roam abroad using your standard allowances. Many networks now charge for this, so this is a major perk of Asda Mobile.
You can roam for free in 46 European destinations, but note that there’s a 5GB fair usage limit for data when roaming.
Asda Mobile allows tethering as standard on all of its SIM Only plans, meaning you can use your Asda Mobile data connection to get other devices like laptops and tablets online, and share your data allowance with them. If you have unlimited data then there’s no limit to how much tethering you can do.
To keep your number when switching to Asda Mobile, first just order your new Asda Mobile SIM card, then – while waiting for it to arrive or once it has arrived – text ‘PAC’ to 65075 from the number you want to keep. This text is free of charge, and the network you’re leaving will reply with a PAC code, which is the key to keeping your number.
Once you have this, just activate your Asda Mobile SIM card, and then head to the ‘My profile’ section of your online Asda Mobile account. Scroll down to ‘transferring your number’ and fill in the details.
You can alternatively request a number transfer by calling Asda Mobile on 2732 – just make sure you have your PAC code and your new temporary number to hand.
For more details on keeping your number, check out our guide covering how to get a PAC code from any network in 60 seconds.
Asda Mobile will send you a trio SIM which contains all three possible SIM card sizes, specifically standard size, which is the largest, a micro SIM, which is the middle size, and a nano SIM, which is the smallest.
The vast majority of smartphones use nano SIMs, but some older phones and other types of devices use other sizes.
In any case, if in doubt just pop out the size that fits the slot in your phone – you could also compare the sizes to your current SIM card.
