1pMobile is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) which uses EE’s infrastructure and coverage, so it has the same coverage and speeds with 5G, 4G, and 3G as EE does.
That’s a big advantage, because EE’s coverage is among the best in the UK, and its speeds are consistently high.
But 1pMobile’s SIM Only plans are typically cheaper than EE’s, and the vast majority of them last just 30 days, so there’s no commitment and no annual price rises – there are also no credit checks, making them a good choice if you’re worried about passing a check.
You can see 1pMobile’s current SIM Only plans above, so just click through to any deal that catches your eye.
1pMobile’s SIM Only plans all come with 5G as standard, as well as the ability to tether, so you can share your phone’s data allowance and signal with other devices.
1pMobile also supports 4G Calling, 5G Calling, and Wi-Fi Calling, meaning that you can call and text over Wi-Fi, or with a 4G or 5G signal.
Not all networks have these features, so on some rival networks you can only call over 3G or 2G.
1pMobile lets all SIM Only customers roam across 46 European destinations at no extra cost, so you can use your standard allowances just like you do at home.
This is something that a lot of networks now charge for, so getting it for free is a great perk. Just be aware that there’s a 14GB fair usage limit when roaming, so if your data allowance is higher than that, you’ll be charged for using more data than that. But fair usage limits when roaming are present on almost all networks.
1pMobile allows all SIM Only customers to tether using their full data allowance. That means you can use your smartphone like a mobile broadband device, to beam a Wi-Fi network to other gadgets like laptops and tablets, getting them online when they wouldn’t otherwise be able to.
To keep your number when switching to 1pMobile you first need to get a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) from the network you’re leaving. The easiest way to do this is to text ‘PAC’ to 65075 from the number you want to keep, but there are other methods too – check out our guide covering how to get a PAC code from any network in 60 seconds for full details. Just make sure you don’t cancel your old account.
Next, you should sign up for a 1pMobile plan, and log in to your 1pMobile online account to activate your SIM card when it arrives. You’ll then be asked if you want to keep your number, and will have to enter the PAC code you received.
Then just select which date you want the transfer to take place on (with at least one working day of notice required). Once your number has been transferred your old account will automatically be closed.
1pMobile will send you a triple SIM, which includes all three possible SIM card sizes. When you get it, just pop out the size you need, be that a standard SIM, a micro SIM, or a nano SIM.
In most cases if you have a recent smartphone it will be a nano SIM that you need, which is the smallest of the three sizes. If in doubt though, just compare the options to your old SIM card or the slot in your phone.
