O2 Bolt Ons explained

31st July 2024

O2 Bolt-Ons

O2 offers a huge selection of Bolt Ons that you can add to your plan, whether you're on Pay Monthly with a phone, SIM Only, or even Pay As You Go. These primarily add data to your plan, but they can also do more niche things.

Below we explain exactly what Bolt Ons are, what ones are available, how you get them, how long they last, and how much they cost.

So if you’re on O2 and ever wish you could augment your tariff, read on for a possible solution.

What are Bolt Ons?

Bolt Ons are for the most part extra allowances that you can add to your plan. So if for example you’ve run low on data you can purchase a Bolt On to give this a boost until your allowance resets.

Some Bolt Ons are available as a one-off, while others are monthly. And as well as data there are also Bolt Ons for things like picture and video messages, mobile insurance, and even Next Generation Text Service (NGTS) – the latter of which is designed for the hard of hearing and is a free Bolt On.

Note also that if you have a spending cap then the price of O2’s Bolt Ons will not be included in it.

What Bolt Ons are available?

There’s a wide range of Bolt Ons available, though exactly which ones you can get will depend on whether you’re on a Pay Monthly/SIM Only plan or a Pay As You Go one. The charts below highlight the various options available at the time of writing, not including insurance and NGTS.

How do I add a Bolt On?

How you add a Bolt On will partially depend on which Bolt On you want, but you can typically manage them from your My O2 account, or call 2202 from your O2 phone.

Many Bolt Ons can be added in other ways though, specifically by texting a specific word to 21300 from your O2 phone.

That word is:

  • ROUND to add the All Rounder
  • ULTIMATE for The Ultimate
  • WEBDAILY for Web Daily
  • SNACK500 for the Snack 500MB One Off
  • ULTIMATEONE for The Ultimate One Off
  • MONTHLYINT for the International Monthly Bolt On
  • Or text INTBOLTON to 23336 for the International Bolt On
