EE’s 4G customer base up fourfold year-on-year

Consumer growth

EE added 1.4 million 4G subscribers during the third quarter of 2015 which brings its total number of 4G subscribers to 5.6 million. This makes EE the biggest 4G provider in Europe.

The company had previously forecast 6 million 4G subscribers by the end of 2014, but with the whole of Q4 sales still to be added to the latest figures, it looks as though a figure of nearer 7.5 million is achievable.

EE revealed that 82% of new pay monthly customers chose 4G, with 30% of those paying extra to benefit from the company’s double speed 4GEE.

Business growth

The business front has not been overlooked by EE which now has over 6,200 corporate accounts including large companies such as MasterCard, Reading Council and Scotia Gas.

Looking forward to 2015

4G.co.uk predicts 2015 is going to be a bumper year for 4G connections. Looking at the 4G base growth graph above it seems logical to say that EE will have over 15 million 4G subscribers by the end of next year.

As previously reported, BT will launch as a 4G MVNO of EE in April and will no doubt give the juggernaut a sizeable boost in 4G consumer connections. EE has already hooked up with BT for business sales and we expect BT to be a major player in securing a large number of corporate accounts for themselves and EE.

It used to be “The future's bright. The future's Orange”, but that now seems a long time ago.
